Happy holidays to everyone.  I spent the month of October literally on the road every weekend between conferences in New Jersey and Maine, qualifying at Dover for the NASCAR race and the college schedule.

Each year, Stella Cameron hosts the Scarlet Boa contest for writers – published and unpublished.  She sets a scene topic to be written about then holds two rounds of voting to declare a winner.  For the second year in a row, I am happy to announce that my scene has made it to the final round of 10 finalists.  Unfortunately, I didn’t win but there’s next year.

Releases

November 1^st saw the release of THE JOY OF LOVE which includes two stories – each very different while having a lot in common.  In the Labor of Love, Cody is traveling to New York to go to school in 1927.  His travels have taken him all over and he’s pretty much gotten a grass roots education.  In a small town in Tennessee, he hears of an opportunity to make some much needed money and meets Savannah, a widow before she had the chance to marry due to her fiancé dying in the line of duty in the Army.  Old enough to be his mother, Savannah teaches him about the enjoyment of life but she has a secret she keeps from him until it’s almost too late.

Lost Love is the last of my “orphans” to find a home with Whiskey Creek Press Torrid.  Some may remember its previous “life“several years ago with another publisher.  In it, Ross and Kendall fall in love in college and marry but his job as a detective in the Philadelphia Police force comes between them, especially when he takes on the biggest case of his life.  Kendall runs from it, divorces Ross but remains deeply in love with him.  They find their way back to each other but secrets and danger get in the way.

Two very different times, two very different settings and two very different couples but one common thread.

December sees the release of YULE LOVES: NOELLE’S ELF and HIS CHRISTMAS CAROLE. 

Noelle faces the prospects of a lonely Christmas.  She makes a wish upon a star asking for what every girl wants – a man.

Dan overhears her sad wish and decides to do something about it.  In the process, he finds she fills an emptiness he’s lived with for a long time.

Can Noelle’s elf make both the desires reality?

Carole made the mistake of falling for a married man but it didn’t matter – she loved him. Kristofer wanted Carole for his own but without strings attached – which he had.

Will his Christmas Carole get the gift he needs and wants to give her?

To celebrate the release of THE JOY OF LOVE, the prize included a beautiful necklace along with some mementos from the Philadelphia area.

Question 4:  Lost Love takes place in Philadelphia, one of the capitals of the fledgling new country.  While many know of Valley Forge and the cold winter, an even larger battle took place not too far away in what is now Chadd’s Ford.  Name the battle.

     As always, the holidays bring with them joy and beauty of the season.  Please, while enjoying them, remember to be fire safe.  When decorating, don’t overload the electrical sockets.  Take care when burning candles and make sure they are not placed near anything which could catch fire and don’t leave them unattended.  Taking an extra few minutes to be safe is the gift of a lifetime.
